oh holy meteorite

calming invisible waters

in space we have yet to claim

grant me the indifference

to arc in the air and

plummet onto a family’s established perimeter

foiling any sense of a future

may your radiation fortify my skeleton

to puncture the incline offering the most prized

view of civilization simmering

no hoax convinces us of your absence

stickers on foreheads

slogans on farmed animals

where your dust falls

I leave my outline

a tableau for forensics

how did the pigment of my skin come to be?

7% charcoal

19% human oils

23% fresh asphalt

51% of questionable origin

possible celestial shadow

Glen Hogard lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and completed a MA in creative writing at the University of Calgary and an undergrad degree at York University in Toronto. He has published in various chapbook anthologies and has just completed a book-length poetry collection, of which, the submitted poetry is a selection. Each poem was written and edited within a 24-hour period and is assigned that day it was written in sequence as the title. The poems are compressed walks off a lyrical plank within the pressure of that day. Some of his poems will be included in an upcoming issue of Filling Station.
